Chonky Boys: The Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches that Scream Summer!

Image
Featuring my thick and nuggy Chonky Boy Chocolate Chip Cookies, these ice cream sandwiches are the stuff that summer dreams are made of.  If you've ever had the Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich at Disneyland , you are going to LOVE these!  These big and bold chocolate chip cookies are based on a recipe from my culinary school studies at Auguste Escoffier, but with a few modifications to give them that Jennuine touch.  They make the perfectas book for a fat slice of real vanilla bean ice cream.  And those mini chips?  You just gotta have that extra cronch! Thank goodness this recipe only makes 8 sandwiches, otherwise I would be eating them for breakfast lunch and dinner.  This way, my big family can help save me from my inner child diet-saboteur.   Print With Image Without Image Chonky Boy Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches Yield: 8 Author: Jenn Erickson Loaded with chocolate chips and buttery, brown-sugary vanilla flavor, these mall-sized cookies form a perfect partnership with a

Ninja Birthday Party, Part III ~
Lil' Plush Ninja Tutorial

Image
A cuddly plush ninja -- what every little warrior needs for ninja naptime! Because my daughter's ninja themed birthday party started in the afternoon and concluded in the evening, I wanted to give a party favor that would send guests off to bed with sweet little ninja dreams. I came up with a pattern for this plush ninja, based on the graphic image I designed for the party.  The ninjas are made from super-soft fleece and felt, and are simple to make.   The plush ninjas were a big hit at the party! Tucked in to each ninja's red belt was a card that read, "Sleep Tight Little Ninja", and I've been happy to learn that over the weekend the kids and their ninjas became steadfast bedtime pals. Here's a tutorial and the free pattern for making a plush friend for your little ninja: Lil' Plush Ninja Tutorial Makes 1 ninja* Ninja pattern 2 pieces of black fleece, 8 1/2" x 11" chalk scissors 1 piece of w

For me, very few candies can evoke such sweet childhood memories the same way Smarties do. It's the whole experience -- the satisfying crinkle of the wrapper when you twist it open; the cheery pastel colors; and the way the dimpled candies dissolve with a perfect balance of sweet and tart at first bite. Did you know that Smarties has been family owned and operated (in Union, NJ) since 1949?  Last week, I had the opportunity to create an original Valentines Day treat featuring this classic nostalgia candy: OWL VALENTINES with a free printable. And now, Rook No. 17 readers (and fellow Smarties aficionados) have an opportunity to win a Smarties Prize Pack of their own that includes: · 1 Theater box Smarties · 1 bag Original Smarties · 1 bag Tropical Smarties · 1 bag X-Treme Sour Smarties · 1 bag Smarties in a Pouch · 1 bag Smarties Love Hearts GIVEAWAY One lucky Rook No. 17 reader will be chosen in a random drawing, using random.org, on Tuesday

And My New Favorite Coffee
#MyBaristaMoment

This project has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for #collectivebias #CBias  Laurel & Hardy Spaghetti & Meatballs Bacon & Eggs Peanut Butter & Chocolate Coffee and Cookies What do they all have in common?  They're perfect pairings! Putting your original spin on an iconic duo is not a task to approach half-heartedly .  There's a lot of history and greatness to live up to.  Coffee and Cookies -- sounds simple enough, but consider this: Perhaps you can liven up a mediocre cookie by dipping it in a cup of good coffee, but if you're starting out with a humdrum cup of Joe, your ship is sunk before its even leaves the dock.   I'm thrilled -- genuinely thrilled -- to tell you that after four "I CAN eat just one" batches of "eh" trial cookies, I finally came up with a keeper.  I'm even more excited that the coffee tasting that inspired this new recipe creation was a success.  Here'
