What do you get when you cross cupcakes and frosting, arts & crafts, four little girls and a crate full of supplies from Elmer's?
--CAMP CUPCAKE--
A crafty summer camp that really takes the cake!
WANT TO HOST A MINI CRAFT CAMP OF YOUR OWN?
Details on how to enter to win craft supplies from Elmer's at the end of this post!

I'd be willing to bet that you'd be hard pressed to find a creative person whose earliest experience with art did not include some sort of Elmer's product. My earliest childhood craft projects would be just a mess of construction paper clippings and loose macaroni if it weren't for Elmer's Washable School Paste. So, it was with great excitement and a nostalgic heart that I jumped at the opportunity to take part in the Elmer's Summer Craft Camp program.
Here's a 2 minute slideshow that shows the whole process, from start to finish!
It all started with the arrival of this crate...
...filled to the brim with arts & crafts supplies!
There were 5 adorably wrapped kits for kids,
and one big, incredibly generous pack for ME!
We had fun deciding how we were going to make OUR
version of the Elmer's Kids' Craft Camp a sweet success.
Once we picked a theme, we cooked up an invitation:
FELT & BURLAP CUPCAKE INVITATION
Supplies
Blue & Orange Construction Paper
White Card Stock
Brown Felt
A small trimming from the orange burlap craft bag
Step 1: Using the scissors that came with the large pack, we cut the three papers to size.
Step 2: Using the tape runner that came in the large pack, we stacked the adhered the papers together.
Step 3: Using the same 8" scissors, we cut a cup shape from the orange burlap, and a frosting shape from a brown felt. Using a thin line of Elmer's Glue All, we attached the two together and then affixed them to the invitation.
------------------------------------------
On the day of the party, we created a station for each camper:
Each station included:
a white apron
an Elmer's mini bi-fold foam board
AND an Elmer's Kids' Craft kit containing:
A set of Project Popperz Dual-tip Markers
A box of CraftBond glue spots
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #1: DECORATING APRONS
The Elmer's Painters were so easy to use and went
on the blank aprons beautifully!
The paint can be heat-set with an iron or in the dryer after application.
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #2: Cupcake Sleeves
The girls enjoyed trying out all the different patterns on the decorative scissors and found them fun and easy to use!
The full tutorial and a free downloadable template will be posted on Friday.
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #3: Cupcake Platforms
We used scrapbook paper and our glue sticks to make these pretty and functional collapsible cupcake platforms out of the mini bi-fold foam boards. The girls also thought they'd be a great place for their Barbies to throw a dance party!
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #4: Cupcake Picks
We used the X-acto Corner Rounder Punch on 2x2 pieces of scrapbook paper to make the backgrounds for our whimsical cupcake picks. We used the thin mini glue spots to affix the sticks and the tulle.
A tutorial for this project will be posted on Monday
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #5: Fondant Flowers
Each girl got their own tray of Neapolitan cupcakes.
I taught the girls how to work with rolled fondant and guided them in making their own fondant flowers.
------------------------------------------
PROJECT #6: CAKE BOX DOODLES
As we were winding down, the girls used the Craft Bond Gel Pens and Project Popperz Dual-Tip Markers to decorate their take-home cake boxes.
