Chonky Boys: The Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches that Scream Summer!

Image
Featuring my thick and nuggy Chonky Boy Chocolate Chip Cookies, these ice cream sandwiches are the stuff that summer dreams are made of.  If you've ever had the Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich at Disneyland , you are going to LOVE these!  These big and bold chocolate chip cookies are based on a recipe from my culinary school studies at Auguste Escoffier, but with a few modifications to give them that Jennuine touch.  They make the perfectas book for a fat slice of real vanilla bean ice cream.  And those mini chips?  You just gotta have that extra cronch! Thank goodness this recipe only makes 8 sandwiches, otherwise I would be eating them for breakfast lunch and dinner.  This way, my big family can help save me from my inner child diet-saboteur.   Print With Image Without Image Chonky Boy Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches Yield: 8 Author: Jenn Erickson Loaded with chocolate chips and buttery, brown-sugary vanilla flavor, these mall-sized cookies form a perfect partnership with a

Lorax Truffula Tree Cupcakes -- Easy DIY

"But those trees ! Those trees ! Those Truffula Trees ! All my life I'd been searching for trees such as these The touch of their tufts was much softer than silk. And they had the sweet smell of fresh butterfly milk." ~excerpt from The Lorax by Dr. Seuss   In celebration of the release of The Lorax movie and Dr. Seuss's birthday, I made cupcakes for my daughter's class featuring silky tufted Truffula Trees, and it was so easy to do!  The paper straws are durable enough to be washed after use, so the kids were able to take theirs home.  Truffula Tree Cupcake Toppers (approx. 50-cents per piece) 1.  Striped Paper Straws (I purchased mine from Shop Sweet Lulu ) 2.  *Marabou feather yardage (5" per tree) (From the trimmings section of your fabric store) 3.  Hot glue Step 1:  Cut feather strand into 5" sections. Carte Postale Stamped Silk Flower Pin Tutorial

In December, my friend Holly (of 504 Main ) and I hosted a small get-together of some of our closest friends for a " Favorite Things " party (inspired by an idea I found on Pinterest) . We held the event at a local venue overlooking the bay. Each guest brought enough of a favorite thing (a lipgloss, split of champagne, gourmet chocolate, etc) to give to each of the other ladies.   These were the "favorite things" that I brought for everyone. Holly and I provided a linen tote for each guest, and everyone went home with their bags full of incredible new finds.  Holly and I each made our own version of fabric flowers as a little something extra for our friends.  We attached my flowers, which were on pinbacks, to the tote bags.  Holly's flowers, mounted on clips, were worn by each guest.  Here are the flowers that I made: The inspiration for my flowers came from a post that caught my eye on Pinterest , originating at The French Cupbo

Ninja Birthday Party, Part III ~
Lil' Plush Ninja Tutorial

Image
A cuddly plush ninja -- what every little warrior needs for ninja naptime! Because my daughter's ninja themed birthday party started in the afternoon and concluded in the evening, I wanted to give a party favor that would send guests off to bed with sweet little ninja dreams. I came up with a pattern for this plush ninja, based on the graphic image I designed for the party.  The ninjas are made from super-soft fleece and felt, and are simple to make.   The plush ninjas were a big hit at the party! Tucked in to each ninja's red belt was a card that read, "Sleep Tight Little Ninja", and I've been happy to learn that over the weekend the kids and their ninjas became steadfast bedtime pals. Here's a tutorial and the free pattern for making a plush friend for your little ninja: Lil' Plush Ninja Tutorial Makes 1 ninja* Ninja pattern 2 pieces of black fleece, 8 1/2" x 11" chalk scissors 1 piece of w
